"My work reflects a creative process of discovery and observation combined with the technical knowledge required for metalwork. This process requires patience to allow the work to unfold. Very often, my design process is inspired through working directly in the metal. Once, while forging silver, I discovered that the blows of the hammer created the illusion of light reflecting on the ocean. This observation led me to create a body of work based on this theme. Exploring metal techniques keeps the work fresh, allowing it to transform to a new expression. This is a lifetime process, always evolving and not concerning itself with finality." ~ Cynthia Wiig
